This course selects and gathers a group of 10 young artists to explore Verdian repertoire, exploring historically informed performance practices through the use of critical editions, recordings, and other evidence, and drawing on current trends in performing the rich and diverse body of Verdi’s oeuvre. The aim is to empower singers to create stronger, more compelling, and more idiomatic performances of this crucial body of repertoire, building up an array of technical and stylistic skills.

The philosophy and aims of the course stem from the multi-year experience of the Accademia Verdiana, the young artist training program of the Teatro Regio Parma, Italy, which since 2017 has been providing dozens of opera singers with the opportunity to perfect their skills under the guidance of leading Verdi singers, conductors, and coaches.

Participants of exceptional ability may be invited to audition at the Teatro Regio in Parma, and will be considered for the company’s future activities, including participation in the Accademia Verdiana, performances at Festival Verdi and Verdi Off, and other initiatives promoted by the Teatro Regio Parma.

Please address any questions to accademiaverdiana@teatroregioparma.it
|
